rinse and spit
i had an appointment this morning, bright and early, for a cleaning and 32 point inspection or whatever it is that they do and i get treated like a war criminal because i've missed a few cleanings - perspective please, people!let me state for the record that i haven't been to the dentist in a couple of years for a combination of factors including (but not limited to):
- my innate laziness
- the fact that i've had 4 jobs in the last 2 years and it was s really stressful time
- the fact that i hated my dentist and the fact that he spoke limited english
- the fact that the hygenist was a nazi
but on the upside, the new hygenist was really pleasant (and i'm not just saying that because she said i looked cute, and complimented me on my straight teeth - not that i had anything to do with that) and the new dentist was cute (for a short guy) and pleasant, as well - and they were both fairly nice to me after my confession that i hadn't been for a cleaning because "i'm a bad person" - why that explanation satiated them, i don't know. maybe they assumed that i had larger issues (they would be correct)
but why did i feel the pressure to get my teeth whitened? there were posters and brochures all over- but, seriously, how white do teeth need to be? is it natural for your teeth to be so white they appear to be backlit by flourescent lamps?
