in case of overly high self esteem, click here

i found some website where you can type in your age and get a listing of what other people did at that age - like if you're not feeling like enough of a loser, here's some reinforcement -
here's the noteworthy (ones i'd heard of) from mine

At age 30:

  • Mark Twain published his first short story, "Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog."
  • Danish novelist Hans Christian Andersen published his book of fairy tales.
  • Donald Trump persuaded bankers to lend him $80 million so he could buy the Commodore Hotel.
  • Samuel Morse's assistant, Alfred Lewis Vail, devised Morse code.
  • Hank Williams overdosed on drugs and alcohol.
  • Bill Gates was the first person ever to become a billionaire by age 30.
sure, i'm not doing as well as donald trump (although i have way better hair) or bill gates (better hair than him, too - and i have contacts), but i'm going better than hank williams - once again, perspective saves the day

i also think it's kind of cool that mark twain had only just published his first short story - so there's still hope for me, right?
