sometimes it seems like i'll do anything to avoid work

i've mentioned before how people tend to disappoint me, but this week, i was... shoot, what's the opposite of disappointed? encouraged? i suppose we can go with encouraged... okay, let's try this again... this week, i was greatly encouraged by not one, but two people i know;

1) i hang out with this little group of chicks... girls... women?... let me try that again - i have a little group of friends and one of them, val, is doing a 60 mile breast cancer walk this weekend - she's been training for this since january - i just think that she's such a rockstar for her dedication and commitment (talk about lack of character, i doubt i could commit to driving 60 miles for a good cause) - i just think she rocks out loud for doing this (i also think she's a little bonkers - walking 60 miles? i offered her a ride, but she insists on playing by the rules)

2) the IT boy - he's just a really, really decent person - he constantly surprises me with his logic, insight, and, yes, strength of character

wow, that was kind of a warm and fuzzy post, huh? sorry about that, i get like that as it gets closer to the holidays (and don't try to fight it, they're creeping closer)- hopefully, by mid-november when i'm sick of christmas music, disgusted by consumerism and frustrated because i'm not good at picking out thoughtful presents for people (but i'm a phd in gag gifts)

  • people that do that walk do rock! my 60 year old aunt did it, or at least started it before it was called due to rain. she's still a rockstar.

  • I'd go with "impressed" as the opposite of "disppointed".
