I have a confession and I hope that no one will judge me for it

This is something that I have denied for years and years, and only just recently admitted it to myself -

am
a
fan
of
Ben
Stiller
movies

I know - the shame, the horror - I've always considered him only slightly less ham-tastic than Brendan Frasier (whom I still and shall continue to despise), but recently it's been brought to my attention that he's funnier than hell - wtf? I'm serious.

My first inkling of this was when I watched "Duplex" and didn't hate it - I thought that one might have been a case of two negatives making a positive (Drew Barrymore - whom I hate, + Ben Stiller), but then when I saw "Envy" and "Dodgeball", it was confirmed. I like his movies. Looking back ("Reality Bites", "Zoolander", "If Lucy Fell", "Meet the Parents", Along Came Polly") I think I might have known it all along***.

Now the healing can begin.

***I would like to point out that I HATED "Something about Mary" and nothing you say can change that

  • I laghed so hard i almost crapped myself watching dodgeball... BS is forever in my memory b/c DH and i went to see "Meet the parents" Just days before I introduced him to mine!

  • I'm so not a Stiller guy. But I like the people he works with (Will Ferrel, Vince Vaughn, etc.) so I end up liking some of the movies. Like Dodgeball.

    Are you sure its not a thing where you like the movies in spite of Ben? He really does try way too hard all the time.

  • The GF and I are at odds over mr. Stiller. She can't stand him and I think his moviues are quite fun. Although I have to say, just as I was winning her over to the darn side he released Zoolander which in my opinion was apiece of crap.

  • I can't stand Ben Stiller movies. If I watch any movie starring him, it causes me stress. To me, it's just not entertainment watching a movie character do stupid things. I try to avoid any movie with him in it.
