Today, we braved the elements* to got o the famous** Lady and Sons restaurant in downtown Savannah because everyone said that we had to go there - so we got there about twenty minutes before it opened and miraculously, we got in on the first sitting (they open at 11 and if you don't get in on the first dining, you put your name down for the second sitting at 12:30) we sat at the bar on the third floor and, it was crowded, but not nearly as hectic as you'd think. And the food was yummy, the fried chicken was great and the peach cobbler was so good I wanted to wash my hair with it, it was all very homecooked, like the kind of food you'd find at your grandma's house***it's not one of those restaurants where you'd go all the time because it's so touristy, but I would recommend it - if only to say that you'd eaten there.
Two weird things about the restaurant - the guy next to me who asked for sweet pickle relish for his collared greens (the waittress/bartender looked at him like his crewcut was on fire), and the waiter guy who broke into some long, long spiritual type song at the top of his lungs (because "loud" is the new "good")
And one additional note - a little math for the afternoon -
lily white skin + 4 hours at the beach (no matter how fun) + sloppily applied sunscreen = painful, crimson back
* And by elements, I mean trying to find a parking space downtown, and dealing with long lines of tourists with fanny packs and wearing socks and sandals.
