Constructions Words/Terms That Make Me Snicker (part I)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

  • Scum pump (it sounds like a heavy metal band)
  • Conduit (I don't know why, but it sounds like a bastardized Southern word)
  • Butt Joint (sounds like a bar where the Village People would play)
  • Man Hours (um - where do I sign up for some of those?)
  • Caulk (it sounds like... tee hee, nevermind)
  • Erection (um...)

  • Constructions is a nice category for words, yesterday I heard the word 'falb' which is a german expression for pale gray. I already successfully used it in a conversation, you can also start some beautiful sentences with it like "auf falben laube.." which means "on pale gray foliage...".

  • Yep, it looks like Atlanta! I can't recall some other racy construction terms, ask the engineers though, they've got a million of 'em. I'm still thinking I don't know how long that job can last. I've seen similar situations where it was all over in months, (bad fit, poor management, internal disputes, family buyouts), and some where it lasted for decades with a learning cruve you'd not expect. Lil' old ladies have done a lot of construction in the south. Some Demo work too. Ask about it sometime.

    Cheers& Good Luck , 'VJ'
