i love getting mail

i mean, i LOVE getting mail, just love it, sure, email's cool, but there's something about seeing something in my little mail slot at work. i haven't gotten anything since i moved to the marketing department, it's gotten so that i hardly ever even look at my mail slot anymore. today, though, i happened to glance over and see a little package for me - what's better than just plain mail, but a package! yippee - it was like christmas! (see how little it takes to make me happy?) and what's better than a package, but an unexpected package!

it was a cd by a band called the buzzcuts - for those unfamiliar with that band name, one of the guitarists in the band is larry star, aka wedding dress guy from ebay. backstory (it's lame, but don't tell me that i didn't warn you) : when i was at the ebay live convention in new orleans back in june (you know, new orleans, the city famous for debauchery where i was stuck with a christian chaperone who didn't let me drink and made me watch her clean out copious amounts of ear funk every night in the hotel room), i was on my lunchbreak when i saw a guy in a dress - sure, that's not unusual for new orleans, but this guy was wearing a wedding dress - "oh my gosh!" i said to myself, "it's the wedding dress guy!" - back a million years ago when sister christian and i were friends (read: before i realized how amazingly annoying she is) we had both expressed love for the wedding dress guy's ebay listing (i would go find a link for you, but please refer to my earlier post about laziness and you'll understand why i couldn't be bothered) and i gushed at him about how i'm a writer and how i looooved his listing (for the record, i don't normally gush) and how i'd been tempted to email him, but had decided against it because he probably got a million emails a day... he says "oh, you're a writer" and we bonded on that for a second, then he tells me i can email him any day and gives me his personal email address - and we emailed back and forth a bit and he offered to send me a cd, but he never did, until today... (see, i told you the story was lame)
as for the cd itself... um... how should i put this? it's the kind of music that should be playing in a dark, dive-y kind of bar and as the evening went on, you'd be like "damn, these guys are pretty good." there's a song on it called "lady" (first of all, who even uses that word anymore?) and most of the chorus is just "laaaay-daaaay" - it's bud light music. but still, larry's cute in that dirtbag musician, decent writer kind of way that i like.
