shake it, shake it, shake it - like a Polaroid picture
I love it when people let you see a snapshot of their lives - figuratively, not literallyI may have mentioned a couple (million) times that I'm a writer and I can only assume it's my writerliness (hey, Shakespeare made up words, why can't I?) that fosters an almost unhealthy curiousity in other people, and this makes me ask questions, lots and lots of questions (frequently inappropriate ones) to try to get those snapshots of people and their lives.
Yesterday, my boss was eating some of my fluorescent orange cheese and she mentioned that it reminded her of her wedding night - I had to ask why, (if only so that I didn't think she was a kinky food freak) and she said that at 3AM, after her wedding and reception, she was riding in the limo on the way to the airport on the way to the honeymoon in Aruba (sounds rough, right?) and she and her new husband begged the driver to stop and get them food because they were famished. Someone ran into a 7-11 and brought back a ton of junk food, including cheetos. My Lilliputian boss was so hungry that she tore into this bag of Cheetos and started devouring them - without even taking off her white gloves - It was such a cute image, my little boss in her floofy dress and gloves, covered with orange Cheeto dust - snapshots like that of people are humanizing, don't you think?
For your Friday, here is a snapshot of me - 5 years ago, I'm in the hospital, having just given birth to a 10 pound three ounce bundle of boy, pumped full of medication and the nurse holds up my baby and says "Look at your son!"
Fighting to keep my eyes open, I swivel my head over to look at him and my first words to my new child are "Omigod, it's a wookie." Seriously, he was just a big, furry, gooey kid, full head of hair, fuzz on his ears and shoulders. And then I passed out, mmmm, Demerol...

You're also not supposed to pronounce picture as "pitcher", but, unfortunately, there are plenty of people who do - and it makes me sad
