I love the Killers

And I've been listening to "Hot Fuss" pretty much non-stop since I got the cd for Christmas - weird, a cd - Did anyone know that they still sold these? Actual cds with actual cases and artwork? Cds with album names on them not scribbled by a Sharpie... but I digress... Back to the Killers... My favorite song (of this moment) is "All These Things that I've Done" because it provides a concise explanation of the current state of my moods - examples:

If you can hold on
If you can hold on, hold on
I wanna stand up, I wanna let go
You know, you know - no you don't, you don't

Because I know I can be difficult to deal with especially when I'm in my writing-induced-and-okay-maybe-a-little-PMS-to-blame depression - and I don't say it, but I want people just stick with me and deal with my malfunction until it passes

and then

Another head aches, another heart breaks
I am so much older than I can take
And my affection, well it comes and goes
I need direction to perfection, no no no no

the best line there is "...my affection, well it comes and goes" - oh, my gosh, get out of my head! Anyone who has had to spend more than 10 minutes with me knows that my feelings grow and fade like a handprint on a Hypercolor t-shirt (I never actually owned one, I was just seeing if you were paying attention)

and last, but not least

Help me out
Yeah, you know you got to help me out
Yeah, oh don't you put me on the backburner
You know you got to help me out

Don't put me on the backburner? OH MY GOSH - don't ignore me while I'm being a total snatch-o-matic, just suck it up and deal, okay?

And there you go - my first post with song lyrics - and hopefully my last post with a Hypercolor reference

  • Oh, the Killers. I saw them back in October and they aren't that great live. Seen them on TV a couple times too, and it's just miserable. Still, the album is great and I agree, love that song- especially, "I've got soul but I'm not a soldier." I sing it at the top of my lungs while doing dishes!

  • Ah, it's one of my favorite records of the last year. When I bought it it was all I listened to for weeks straight. I think I'll put it on now. But it's true, they're dismal on the telly and a friend said not that great live. ::sigh:: Some bands are just meant for the recording studio.

Jason Mraz? Not one of those. His record is great, his live record is ever better, and at a live show it's positively orgasmic. Nice.

  • yup - the killers suck live. i've seen them on late night tv, and was sorely disappointed.

the newest muse cd kicks all ass, as does the franz ferdinand cd.

oh, and don't get me started on keane.

  • Two things:
    1) I once owned a hypercolor sweatshirt. Unfortunately I put it in the dryer and it became a regular sweatshirt.
    2) One of my favorite song lyrics is by (embarrassingly) Fiona Apple: "You say love is a hell you cannot bear/I say give me mine back and then go there/for all I care"

  • Angie, did you know that I also saw Keane last year AND I MET THEM!?! I about creamed my pants, I was so excited. They were fanfuckingtastic live and so nice after the show- I got them all to sign my ticket. Love, love, LOVE THEM.

  • I have to agree with the assesment of Muse. They do indeed rock something fierce.

  • I saw them live in Denver last year, and thought they did a pretty damn good job. Maybe they're just not consistent in their live performances. At any rate, I've been in lust with them for quite some time. Quite. Some. Time.
