Have you ever wanted something semi-bad to happen because it would make a good blog post?
Tonight, after a particularly tough derby practice, I was in the parking lot of the skating rink, chillin' wit my homies... I mean, chatting with one of our derby referees about derby stuff and MySp@ce and other stuff (we always have little pow wows in the parking lot after practice, just to recap practice and talk about stuff) when I saw a raccoon amble by.Not having been raised in the backwoods of Georgia, I was superduper excited to see real live wildlife, because it's not something I see every day, you know? So I was cooing over the cuteness of it's stripey tail and little masked face and general adorableness and I decided to walk over a little closer to it.
The referee told me not to get to close because they're mean, but he had to be all macho and walk even closer to it. He gets up really close to it, like three feet away, and it lets out a little hiss and starts to arch its back a little bit and all I can think of is what a freaking awesome blog post it's going to make when it flies at his face and claws his eyes out.
I mean, I'm not saying that I wasn't concerned for his wellbeing, or that I wouldn't have totally called 911 (from the safety of my own vehicle) if he had gotten mauled, but a little part of me was wondering what it would be like to see an actual wild raccoon attack this guy.
Does that make me a bad person? And, if so, how bad? Like, just a little bad, or I-should-have-to-register-on-a-website bad?
