In Memoriam
One last story about my Mercedes before the unveiling of its replacement.About a week ago I was at the grocery store getting my daily dose of human interaction when I walked outside with my groceries and headed straight for my car.
Walking towards my little white bomb, I noticed that the bumper had an odd bit of a sag to it - not like it was falling off, but it was just a little wonky. This wasn't necessarily out of the ordinary, it's an older car and stuff comes loose, you know? So I walked up to the back of the car and kind of kicked at it.
It didn't budge so I kicked at it a little harder.
It still didn't budge.
I frowned and stuck my key into the trunk to load my groceries.
Then I noticed that the stickers of my favorite tattoo shop and the Mac apple were missing.
And my key didn't work in the trunk.
And the stuff in the backseat? Not mine.
Yep, I had just walked up to my car's twin and kicked it. In public.
Then I looked over one aisle and saw my car smirking at me and I slunk over to it and got the hell out of the parking lot as quickly as I could.
When I told my husband about this, he told me that the story would have been much better if the owner of my car's wonky twin had arrived when I was kicking it.
So... after way too much exhaustive research on the internets and way too many car dealerships, the decision was made - papers were signed, extended warranties were haggled, asses were kissed (come on, do you think I believed it when the salesguy said that the picture on my drivers license was "great"?) and finally the Mercedes was sent off to live in a farm in Idaho and I brought home this:
*not this exact one, but one that looks a whole lot like this one - it's an '03 Element and it's blue and it's ginormous inside and I like it because I can fill it with lots of crap!
