just... why?

With whatever cable package I've got, I have roughly 300 sports channels. In English and in Spanish, channels that play sports 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The weird thing is not a single one of these channels ever plays a single minute of roller derby. Not a single minute. These channels play shit like ping pong and women's softball.

Why can't roller derby get a little love, huh? It's a sport, we have rules and referees and practices and points and safety equipment and fans. Some leagues even have cheerleaders.

Everybody loves cheerleaders.

  • Because people still think it's a joke. I don't know how many people I explained it to. and many of them still don't consider it a sport. All they see is a bunch of women in skirts skating in circles and knocking each other over.

and then there are the leagues that encourage fighting. And serious theatrics. I think you know what I mean.

So it's up to you, as a pioneer int he resurgence of this sport to set the record strait. Then, when you all go pro, maybe I can start skating again, on a rookie team who doesn't want ESPN.

  • I remember when rollerderby was played on TNT right before WCW Wrestling... it was AWESOME but they only did one season of it.
