Stomach Flu: 1 Me: 0

so... in battling a gut-wrenching (literally) stomach virus thing for several days* I have arrived at a couple of conclusions:

1) The AT&T commercial that is in CONSTANT rotation about "OMG, I get $300 cash back?" is kind of racist - I know, what? But hear me out, I've been stuck on the couch since Tuesday and unable to move so I've seen the commercial about 9 trillion times - here's the commercial - some guy sticking a microphone in the faces of "random" people in the street and asking what they would do with this windfall of cash -

White girl: OMG, I'd totally get awesome concert tickets!

Hispanic guy: I'm taking my girlfriend to dinner and buying her something

White guy: I'm buying baseball tickets

Asian lady (with baby): I'm going grocery shopping

White kid: Hellooooo mp3 player

Black guy: if I get cash back, I'm spending it on my girlfriend

White lady: I wanna take dance lessons!

Conclusion? White people are selfish and buy superfluous things for themselves! People of other races are generous and want to buy things for other people

or maybe I've just seen the commercial 9 trillion times and it's getting on my damn nerves.

2) I'm 98% positive that I'm quitting my league**. It's just not fun for me anymore and I can't seem to come up with enough (okay, any) reasons to stay. This league is a bad fit and I don't think it makes sense for me to keep trying to fit in. When I first got here, I admit that I tried to use my experience as the president of my former league to help with anything I could help with - because women are women***, they were threatened by little miss know-it-all coming in and made it a point to not accept any help or suggestions from me - fine, whatever. So I stepped back and kind of stopped trying to help - then I got all kinds of attitude because I wasn't helping enough - what-thefuck-ever. So I'm not leaving mad, I'm just leaving.

The league has been on hiatus since the last bout (about a month) and in that time, I've been less stressed and more creative than I have been in a looooong time.

Coincidence?

I doubt it - so... yeah - I've now got a whole lot of free times on my hands.

* first of all, aren't these things only supposed to be 24 hours? and second of all, I'm not gonna lie, stomach virus totally won the battle, my ass was soundly kicked.

**I'm not quitting derby because I'll consider myself a derby girl for the rest of my life and since we move all the time, I'll probably be in another city in a year

*** shut up, it's true
