Okay, sometimes it's cool to live in 1952

Today, the bosslady somberly calls me into the accountant's office and I'm a little worried because it's the holidays and money is tight around here and I'm grossly overpaid for what I do around here, so I'm thinking I'm getting canned.

bosslady: "Y'all, I know how hard it is for women around this time of year..."

me: "..."

bosslady: "We got shoppin' and cookin' to do..."

me: "..."

bosslady: "And I told [bossman] that I felt so bad about y'all being stuck in the office all day, so I cleared it with him for y'all to get out of the office for a couple hours today and tomorrow to run errands if you need to, so, take a couple extra hours today at lunch and I'll clear it for y'all for tomorrow, too"

me: "... but... being... in... the... office... is... our... job... uh... nevermind, you're right, I'm sure I've got a pie to bake or socks to mend or sheep to sheer out on the old homestead..."
