Top 5 Reasons Why I'm a Crappy Receptionist/Administrative Assistant
- I'm lousy at taking phone messages, seriously, I always get the name or number wrong, or don't copy down the whole message they want to leave. ("What did this person call about?" "I don't know, it was something about... um... yeah, I forget, but he wants you to call back.")
- I'm lousy at passing what messages I do take along to the people to whom they should be passed along. ("oooh, this message has been on my desk since Monday... last Monday...")
- I can't give directions worth a crap. Seriously, I would be hardpressed to give you directions from the end of the street to my house - and that's like 200 feet, and we have vendors and job applicants calling here all the time to get directions to our completely-impossible-to-find office. Basically, I just end up repeating the address and telling them that's where we are.)
- I'm lazy. I really don't like doing the work, so I tend to either not do stuff, or put it off until the last minute. ("Yeah, that's printing up right now...")
- I open the mail and receive all the packages and this time of year that means the ocassional freebie/holiday gift, most of which I keep (don't worry, it's not big stuff like cash or fabulous gifts, just stickers, calendars, the ocassional cd, and nice pens)
