I think I have a new favorite food
I thought that I had lived in the South long to see every imaginable food deep-fried - Oreos, pickles, twinkies, Snickers bars - pretty much, if there is a food with little or no nutritional value that can be stuck on a stick, they'll fry it and sell it at the county fair.Today, though, I was introduced to an entirely new variety of fried deliciousness - the fried avocado.
Yep, fried avocados.
I saw it on the menu at a Mexican restaurant and had to order it. Moments later, I had a platter in front of me with a golden brown ball of fried goodness about the size of a small orange. When I broke into the protective bread crumb coating, I found it to be filled with spicy chicken, melted cheese and a ton of hot delicious avocado.
Now, I love me some avocados - But... fried? I've never seen them anywhere but Texas - it's like someone said "you know, avocados are kind of fatty by themselves, but I feel like they could be a little less healthy. What if we stuff them with cheese and fry them?"
Seriously, though, it was just about the best food I've ever tasted.

In other, completely unrelated news, I'm losing my mind - this morning, I went to the grocery store, did all my shopping, then realized that I'd left my wallet at home. This evening, we were halfway home from the restaurant when I realized that I'd left my purse there on the floor. I'm pretty sure the next step is me wandering down the street in my underwear and a pair of cowboy boots, shaking a box of cat treats and calling for Jingles, the cat I had when I was a kid.
