I ruined someone's day today
and I don't feel bad at all -Sister Christian, my erstwhile work friend and current work nemesis, has been telling me for days about her new pink shoes that she's wearing to a party tonight.
Her new pink shoes that she got at Wal*mart.
Her new pink shoes that she got at Wal*mart that light up when she walks (what is she? Five?)
Today, she brought her new pink shoes with her to work and proudly pulled them out of a Wal*mart bag to show me.
Imagine, if you will, high heeled light pink flip flops with a clear lucite platform and heel that light up with every step (is Kinder-stripper a word?)
And she was so smug about how cool and edgy they are.
"Wow, those are cool and edgy," I enthused. "All you need now is a pole to swing around."
You've never seen smugness disappear so quickly.
And no one could get away with these shoes. They're awful. Even I couldn't wear them ironically, and I can wear anything ironically. But these are really the last shoes that a devout, born again, 27 year old virgin should own. Really.
