File under: I should care about this why?

The other day, Yahoo had a story about how worms on a fishhook don't feel any pain -

This is just a guess here, but I'm thinking that the people impaling the worms in the first place, aren't really all that concerned with the worm's well being

second of all - it's so good to know that the worm isn't in any discomfort prior to being EATEN BY A FISH...

what's next, the news that worms experience spontaneous orgasm when they're being digested?

  • The government called for the study on pain, discomfort and stress in invertebrates to help in the planned revision of Norway's animal protection law. It's funny that they're concerned about the worm on the hook, but not so concerned about the fish that's about to be on the hook, and soon to be gasping and suffocating on the deck of some boat.

You'd think that they'd ban the fishing, which would also take care of the worms. I think they're doing it backwards.

  • I've always felt weird about worms. They're cool and all when they're wiggling around on the ground after it rains...but when they start eating you after you die....that's just rude.

  • I used to cut worms in half as a kid and then both halves happily wriggled off so it is entirely possible that the worms don't really feel the hook. Either that or it's a conspiracy...

  • Oh my gosh! This is one of the funniest things I have read in a very long time! Who has the time to think up these things to worry about? lol
    Happy Valentine's Day! :)
