It's the beginning of day 4 of living in the shell of a house (our current furniture consists of 2 bookcases, an air mattress, a heavy wooden desk and a leather recliner that we bought from the old owner) and still, my laptop is the only form of entertainment - I would give anything for an hour or two of solo time with my dear iBook, I mean, Hello, I can't exactly surf porn when there's a 6 year old waiting to use cartoonnetwork.com, dammit.

The nearest the movers have estimated is that we'll have the furniture, etc by Friday - which will be nice because, in spite of the fact that I have most of my favorite underwear with me, a girl likes to have choices, you know? And I'm also about sick of the 5 t-shirts I happen to have with me. On the upside, though, no one expects me to try to look for a job, seeing as I don't have any grown up clothes, so I could tough it out for another few days (or months)

But I'm fitting in okay, thus far, because I've learned to order my tea as "Sweet Tea" and I'm actually liking my hair curly (I'm totally rockin' the fro)

Main differences I've noticed here versus Phoenix, thus far:

More tourist here, but they're not assholes like the tourists in AZ
Girls are girlier here, but less affected than Phoenix (I mean that there are more girls wearing skirts, but they don't all have the same big lips, too much eyeliner, and cheezy blonde highlights as in Phoenix - it's like a Jessica Simpson factory out there)
It's difficult to find food that isn't fried (but the upside is that it's all yummy)
It's a much slower pace
There are cockroaches the size of Lincoln Continentals EVERYWHERE
There's not a Walgreen's on every corner
Where in Phoenix every house looks the same, all the houses here have character, seriously, there are so many amazing buildings here, there really haven't been adjectives invented to describe how astounding these houses are (pictures to be posted when I get 'round to it)

and the most obvious difference -

Less gigantinormous fake tits here (seriously, Scottsdale, where I used to work, was just about the augmentation capital of the planet)
