Forgive me, Blogger, for I have sinned

I have a couple of confessions this morning -

1) Last week, I was all "Squee" about getting a postcard from Lulu from Ireland, which, don't get me wrong was like a little dispatch from heaven - but then my dear pal, Beans, sends me a whole little care package with 3 (count them, 3!!!) cds, 2 photographs that she herself has taken and a postcard with a praying mantis on it and I say nothing about it - GOSH - could I possibly suck more? No, I doubt it.

2) I actually have a natural(ish), normal haircolor right now and I don't know how it happened... well, I DO know how it happened - about 3 or 4 weeks ago, I was shopping for a new funky haircolor - thinking it would save time and shipping charges, I decided to go to a local beauty supply store - I couldn't find the local one I was looking for, so I went into another one - and it turned out to be one that catered exclusively to the African-American community (it was completely silent the whole 45 seconds I was in there and everyone was staring at me) so they didn't have anything even remotely resembling what I wanted, defeated, I went home and broke out some bleach stuff that I had and decided that I was going to lighten my hair some more and then put in the rest of the blue dye. After I washed out the bleachy stuff and was drying my hair (so the blue would take better) I decided that I kind of liked the streaky light-ish color, so I kept it. And then three weeks went by and it was time to color again, so I got some more bleachy stuff and put it in, but instead of more natural(ish) streaks, I my hair closer resembled that candy corn stuff from Halloween - bleh - orange-y and yellow-y do not look good on me - so yesterday at lunch, I used some of my "woman time" to get a box of ash blonde (to tone down the brassiness) and now I have a subtle, caramel-y shade that I don't hate. It's probably the closest that I've had to my natural haircolor since I was about14, but it doesn't feel like it's me.

3) I had a Nelson* song stuck in my head this morning - and I did it to myself - I decided to straighten my new grown up hair today and I was thinking how unusual it was for there to be so little humidity in the air after a rain - and then my brain started singing "After the Rain"... and worse than having a crappy 80s song stuck in your head is having a crappy 80s song stuck in your head and not knowing all the words, just the chorus.

* Check out the Nelson Brothers' website and tell me that they don't look like Ellen Degeneres now - I dare you
