First totally surreal Texas experience? Taken care of on my first night in the state.

So, on my slow and ambling way across the country, we happened to make a stop in Houston - and who lives in Houston, but my BFF (and one of two non-derby friends that I have in the world) Andi.

Sure, moving is a stressful time, but am I going to let this chance to finally meet her pass me by? Heck no.

We planned to meet up for coffee - and by coffee, I mean margaritas and chips - she picked me up at my hotel and we went to one of the 4 trillion Mexican restaurants in this state - we drank margaritas (frozen, with salt, please), made fun of our overly groomed waiter (Jason, but we decided to call him Rafael) and talked about all of the dirty things that boys wish that girls talked about.

Sometime in the middle of all of this, a lovely waitress with the most melodious Jamaican accent came over "The gentlemen over there wanted to send this to you..." she said as she dropped off a turtle made of raw tortilla dough.

Yep, some guy thought I was cute, so he made a reptile out of uncooked dough and sent it over to me... because that's, apparently, part of the mating process here in Texas...?

And, yes, you'll see a picture of it soon.

And, no, it looks nothing like a turtle.

And, yes, it's weird, even Jason/Rafael confirmed that.
